Armie Hammer Rides a Horse on a Train in 'The Lone Ranger' TV Spot

While a new full length trailer for The Lone Ranger is slated to debut on April 17th next week, the first TV spot has some new footage to show off. This one is certainly action-packed, with plenty of bits we haven't seen before. Helena Bonham Carter gets some more screentime along with a specially equipped boot that could prove to be deadly in the pub. But the real star this time seems to be Armie Hammer as the titular hero as he rides his trusty steed Silver along the top of a train as it barrels into a tunnel. It feels like we've been waiting forever for this flick to come out, and now I just want to if it's good or not. Watch below!

The Lone Ranger is directed by Pirates of the Caribbean franchise helmer Gore Verbinski and written by Ted Elliot, Terry Rossio and Justin Haythe. Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption. The Lone Ranger arrives on July 3rd.

This really looks like a flop. But I am sure Depp's name is enough for it to come in No. 1 that weekend, but DESPICABLE ME 2 may just be enough to topple it.

I think it looks like an amusing action.flick, which is what I believe they were aiming for.

Playing to the lowest common denominator. Which is fine, but sad when you have the talent there to do something incredible.

I actually think Despicable Me 2 might beat it. Of the big July live action blockbusters...The Lone Ranger and The Wolverine look a bit underwhelming, while Pacific Rim looks like it's going to exceed expectations.

Yeah I agree again Chris Groves, but some people disagree. Then again some people agree. I would like nothing more than to be surprised by both films.
