Just recently we learned that comedian Ricky Gervais might bring "The Office" character David Brent to theaters for a feature film following the former paper company boss as he tries to break into the music industry. Now some British drama might get the same treatment. The Guardian has word from The Edinburgh International Television Festival that Neil Cross wants to bring his series "Luther," which stars Pacific Rim and The Losers actor Idris Elba, to the big screen following the end of the show after three seasons. However, rather than continuing the series, the film adaptation would be a prequel. Read on!

Cross mentioned the strong possibility of a film to The Guardian saying:

"I've written the script and we hope to get the film made next year. Idris is a brilliant leading man and we've hoped to turn Luther into a movie for a long time. It will follow his career in the earlier days, when he is still married to Zoe, and the final scene in the film is the first of the initial TV series."

The UK outlet also notes that the series would bring back Warren Brown as Justin Ripley and also Steven Mackintosh as Ian Reed. This is a great way for audiences who aren't fans of the series to get involved with the character and then check out the show for the first time. This way, the audience who loved the show won't be the only interested parties, which is a concern for TV to film adaptations like the Kickstarted film continuance Veronica Mars. Earlier this year, Elba expressed interest in a Luther film, but said, "We do want a new audience, but we also want to keep the fans interested, so we have to tread very carefully."

I really wanted to like this show but Ruth Wilson's "Alice" character just killed it for me. Hated her the way I hated Rita from Dexter or Skylar from Breaking Bad. Just ruined every scene for me and thought all her subplots were stupid. Only got through 3.5 episodes

Oh man, another one of those wife characters? Why do they write them like that (although it's partly the actresses too)?

because there's no drama unless you have a psycho getting ready to snap ...u think some female actors are crazier than their characters ? Maybe more would be familiar with Idris and his range from this , and not freak out when somebody says he COULD be Bond ... I saw Season two of Luther . It was ok def not bad . you have to see Season 1 to get the skinny on Alice.
