Before the end of 2012, we learned that Seth MacFarlane would keep his big screen directing career alive with a new project called A Million Ways to Die in the West. The film is said to be a western comedy in the same vein as Blazing Saddles, showing up difficult and dangerous life in the Wild West. MacFarlane is also starring in the film in addition to producing and directing, and now Heat Vision has word that Charlize Theron is in final negotiations to take a role in the film which follows a sheepish farmer who chickens out of a gunfight and sees his girlfriend leave him. But that's just where the story begins. Read on!
When the farmer meets the wife of a notorious outlaw who offers to teach him how to shoot, he sees a chance to win back his girlfriend but, of course, slowly falls for the gunslinger. Complications ensue when the outlaw returns and reclaims the woman. Theron is likely playing the teacher, but that's the only cast rounded up so far. But the script comes from MacFarlane's Ted writers Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, who have worked with MacFarlane for years. And as someone who loved that film, I can't wait to see what MacFarlane does with the western genre and comedy combined, especially with someone like Theron involved who takes on comedy roles sparingly between her more dramatic work.
