This week, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits theaters, continuing the film adaptation of the best-selling young adult book trilogy (though the finale is split in two). And with the release of the film just a few days away, "Sesame Street" figured there's no better time to send-up, or rather pay tribute to (see what I did there?) the film franchise with Cookie Monster starring in The Hungry Games: Catching Fur. The blue, furry, cookie-loving monster plays Cookieness Evereat, who has to figure out some patterns with food to win The Hunger Games again. It's meant for kids, but there are some jokes here for grown-ups.
Here's Sesame Street's The Hungry Games: Catching Fur from the show's YouTube channel:
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a "Victor's Tour" of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow (Donald Sutherland) prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games, a competition that could change Panem forever. Francis Lawrence directs the film written by Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire) and Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3) arriving November 22nd this fall. See the trailer.
