Cool Featurette on Weta's Droids in Neill Blomkamp's Sci-Fi 'Elysium'
In theaters this week is Neill Blomkamp's Elysium, the second movie from the mind behind District 9. This time he introduces us to a new world, set in the year 2154, where the wealthy live in a space station and the rest of the world is managed mostly by droids - robotic police officers. Elysium has a handful of droids, and they're one of the best parts of the movie, especially seeing how seamlessly they're integrated into the world. Blomkamp once again enlisted the help of Weta in designing and crafting the droids to film with, and this latest featurette delves into that side of the production. There's lots of cool footage in this, if you want more.
Here's the droids making of featurette for Neill Blomkamp's Elyisum, originally from Yahoo:
Elysium, directed by South African filmmaker Neill Blomkamp (of District 9), focuses on Secretary Rhodes (Foster), a hardened government official, who will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. However, that doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds. The screenplay was written by Neill Blomkamp. Read more about the movie's composer Ryan Amon here. Sony/Columbia has Elysium set to hit theaters everywhere August 9th this week. See it!

Lol, this featurette is like three weeks old. Saw your reactions to the film on Twitter, by the way. Interesting stuff.

I've heard that Jodie Foster is not very good in this movie, and has a weird accent like Will Smith's in After Earth. That would be disappointing.
