Oz The Great and Powerful

"Welcome to 2013!" The countdown has begun… and is over already! Disney has decided to capitalize on the New Year by promoting one of their spring releases, the colorful Oz The Great and Powerful, directed by Sam Raimi with production design by Robert Stromberg, of Alice in Wonderland. They recently aired two TV spots (via ComingSoon) counting down the end of 2012 leading into the big "Welcome to 2013" video, highlighting footage from the movie, starring James Franco as the great wizard of Oz, or how he becomes that man. We've seen two trailers for this, but it's fun to see more promo spots, although it looks like Alice.

Here's the 2012 to 2013 countdown promo spots for Oz The Great and Powerful, found on YouTube:

When small-time magician Oscar Diggs (Franco) pulls one flimflam too many, he finds himself hurled into the fantastical Land of Oz where he must somehow transform himself into the great and powerful Wizard—and just maybe into a better man as well. Also features the three witches Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams). Disney's fantastical adventure Oz The Great and Powerful, directed by Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Dark Man, Spider-Man, Drag Me to Hell), imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum's beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. From a screenplay by Mitchell Kapner and David Lindsay-Abaire. Disney will be sending us back to Oz on March 8th in a few months. Going to see?

If that is the best Disney can do, Oz will be this year's John Carter!
