With Dane Cook voicing the lead in Disney's animated Cars spin-off Planes (without the help of Pixar), and a supporting cast that includes Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards, Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Teri Hatcher, Brad Garrett, John Cleese and more, it's time for the first official footage from the film to be unveiled. We've seen the teaser that hit home video when the film was meant only for a Blu-Ray/DVD release, but now that the film is slated for an August theatrical run, there's a trailer in AMC Theaters that plays more like a sneak preview clip with Dusty (Cook) racing jets Bravo and Echo (Kilmer & Edwards). Even if this doesn't feel like a home run, the animation will at least look really good in 3D. Watch below!
Here's the sneak preview trailer for Disney's Planes, via Disney Movie Trailers:
Planes is directed by Klay Hall ("King of the Hill," Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure) and follows Dusty (Dane Cook), a small town crop dusting plane who longs to enter the most epic around-the-world air race despite his fear of heights. But Dusty's not exactly built for racing, so he turns to a seasoned naval aviator who helps Dusty qualify to take on the defending champ of the race circuit. The voice cast also includes Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards, John Cleese, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Brad Garrett, Gabriel Igelsias, Teri Hatcher and more. Disney Animation sends Planes to theaters on on August 9th, 2013 this summer. Thoughts?

Even though this is not a Pixar film, John Lasseter (director of the Cars films, and chief creative officer of both Pixar and Disney Animation) will be one of the producers of Planes.

Damnit! I want to hate this cash grab, but that was actually pretty cool looking.

Is this another creepy world where there are human things and services but just these weird talking planes living in it?

Wow Pixar is really going downhill for my taste. I agree this is unbereable, bland & terrible. I would have preferred The Incredibles 2. This year I want to see with my kids Despicable me 2.
