Director Ben Wheatley Developing Animated 'Mega Evil Motherf*ckers'
After a trio of films that include Down Terrace, Kill List and Sightseers, cinephiles should be looking forward to the next project from director Ben Wheatley. The filmmaker has A Field in England on the way and a segment in The ABCs of Death, and now we have word on another developing project. The Hitlist (via The Playlist) has word from the filmmaker himself about an animated project called Mega Evil Motherfuckers. As you might expect, the film isn't animated fare for children and their families, but rather a violent and funny stop-motion animated film with a script that's already halfway completed now.
Wheatley says that this feature will be happening "underneath" other developing projects coming down the road. Wheatley says, "We're talking to animation houses and guys about that. It's a whole pool of people in the UK who have done Frankenweenie and Fantastic Mr. Fox and stuff, so the talents all there to do it. It's gonna be really, really violent. But funny." It's not often you get to see violent cartoons for adults outside of anime and Adult Swim on Cartoon Network, and with Wheatley (who shows no signs of slowing down) behind the project, it sounds like it's going to be a wild romp.
I was hoping that after Shane Acker's 9 came out we would get some darker animation so this is promising news.
