Djimon Hounsou is Joining the Cast of Universal's 'Fast & Furious 7'
Though production is already underway on Fast & Furious 7, this morning we got word that Kurt Russell might not be in the high-speed sequel after all, and another villain was going to be lined up who would play a bigger role in the developing Fast & Furious 8. While we're still not sure if those details are true, Variety has word on another cast member in the seventh film in this long-running action series. New cast members already include action star Jason Statham, Ong-Bak star Tony Jaa and UFC fighting champion Ronda Rousey, but now Gladiator and Blood Diamond star Djimon Hounsou has landed an unknown role.
Could Hounsou be playing a villain role being set up for the eighth film? It's hard to say. No plot details are available for the sequel directed by James Wan, but we know the film will be shooting in Los Angeles, returning to where the franchise started over 10 years ago. We can assume that a big part of the story will revolve around Statham's character, the brother of Shaw (the villain played by Luke Evans in Fast & Furious 6) getting revenge on Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and the whole gang. Otherwise, the other plot details we heard this morning about Russell's would-be character are still up in the air. Stay tuned for more.

The way things are going with this series, all of that is very possible. Its a better Expendables than the Expendables.

He's always great whether as a baddie or a goodie.

Just a nit-picky note, 'UFC champion' is more appropriate than 'UFC fighting champion', just saying. I like that in July, Vin Diesel and Djimon Hounsou are going to be in the obviously huge Fast and Furious 7, and then just a few weeks later both will be featured in Guardians of the Galaxy. Things are working out well for Marvel in this case.

I think you might be confusing The Expendables casting with FF8.

Great news! He's awesome.

Finally an A-list actor. I just hope he casts a shadow over Paul Walker's horrible acting. All he does is smile and/or laughs at every word in the script when the camera edits to him. In actuality, Djimon Honsou is way to awesome to be in a movie like this.
