Tarzan 3D

Last fall, we got an early look at Constantin Films motion-capture animated adaptation of Tarzan 3D, featuring The Twilight Saga star Kellan Lutz as the title man of the jungle and Spencer Locke (Detention) playing Jane. At the time, the animation looked like an old video game, lacking all of the features that make animated movies today look good. Now the full trailer is here, and even though it's been a year since that initial teaser popped up, this film still looks like garbage. The film is already playing in German and Russian cinemas, so it's not going to get better. Don't count on this getting a big US release.

Here's the full trailer for Reinhard Klooss' Tarzan 3D from (via ComingSoon):

Reinhard Klooss is directing Tarzan 3D starring Kellan Lutz as the classic jungle hero and Spencer Locke as Jane. The story is updated to see Tarzan as the orphan son of billionaire adventurers who died in a plane crash, leaving him to grow up in the jungle, raised by apes. Meanwhile, Jane is the daughter an African guide and is committed to the conservation and preservation of the African jungle, fighting against CEO of Greystoke Energies, a man who took over the company from Tarzan’s deceased parents. The film is already playing in German and Russian cinemas with no release date in the United States set yet. Any thoughts?

Don't watch is like telling me to watch 🙂 Anyway, that was horrible! Couldn't even finish it!

It'll get released here in the U.S. for sure. Our movie studios are money hungry and with the name alone, it'll make some $.

Erm. Maybe I'm a cheap date. I can see where/why you think it's lame but.. the animation looked superb to me, somewhere between reality and computer animation (which is exactly what it is) and the story has a new take. I think I'll take my kids to see this one, as a matter of fact.

Yeah I agree with you! Great name...Jim Butcher fan?

Jimmy Love on Oct 21, 2013

Indeed I am but I got the nickname of Dresden years before I'd even heard of the Dresden Files.

Looks amazing. It's the movie Avatar wishes it was. Or something. :-0

Pixar has spoiled everybody with their crisp, fancy animation...

TheOct8pus on Oct 21, 2013

If you don't think we should watch it then DON'T POST THE TRAILER! Sheesh:(

Im sorry Ethan, but here you are proving yet again that you know just how to talk out your ass and boy are you a god damn expert at it!!! This film looks fantastic, and a real gem in the making, Disneys Tarzan was lame and uninteresting, this one has built a solid story and the animation far from cheap and garbage looks real. I think you'll have to eat your hat on this one when kids and their parents flock to see it!!!!

Went in cynically and left confused. That wasn't bad, and I'm a very stern critic of animation. Whats the big problem?

Mark on Oct 21, 2013

All the positive comments had to come from ppl pushing the movie. Animation looked like a dated video game and story line looks new but forced. Seriously gorilla's and dude taking on military. This isn't pandora ppl. It was painful to watch.

hmmm....i was expecting some cheap looking animated low budget film, but this actually looks good. The characters are a nice blend of realistic and animated people and the animation looked great. I'll be keeping an eye out for this. Folks have to realize not everyone is Pixar. And there are studios out there that does top notch cg animation as well.

"SOME" of the animations look a bit stiff but over all looks fine.

Put Audiomachine and Epic Score to anything and it looks awesome xD! No, seriously, this looks cool. A neat, modern take on the Tarzan series--and if the story is touching and leaves you wanting more I say sure--of course I'll see it. (And the mocap was way better than some things I've seen).

RobotProphet on Oct 21, 2013

That's a long way from Hoodwinked my friend. Sure it's not for me, but it's obvious so much talent has gone into it. Calling it "garbage" is just rude.

Like I have said before I'm not pretentious! I would take my family to see this.

Jimmy Love on Oct 21, 2013

you sir are a a snob, get over yourself, lots a good movies were made based on story and not on effects way before you were around

David Gene Lewis on Oct 21, 2013

I thought it didn't look bad at all. I was expecting some kind of 'Reboot' level horror show, but this had decent animation and a fairly compelling story.

fazha on Oct 22, 2013

The dialog was a lot worse than the animation.

cobrazombie on Oct 22, 2013

wow. i was waiting for them to say they were looking for unobtainium. you don't have to be pixar to have great animation. but this just looks lazy and poorly made. not to mention the dialouge was weak and the actors seemed wooden in the delivery of said dialouge. and then to add insult the whole crapfest is being offered up in 3 "money waste" D. i am the parent of a 10 year old boy that happens to love Tarzan and I asked him if he wanted to see this and trust me I have sat through some junk as a parent and he said NO. He said it looks weird and sounds like avatar. his words.
