"Yo Sparkles!" Welcome to 2014! Sony is kicking off the New Year with a bang by being the first with a new promo. Spider-Man was part of the Times Square New Years Eve countdown ceremony in New York City (here's a teaser) and as part of the event they released a brand new "exclusive" teaser for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The footage, now online in high def below, shows the villain Electro, played by Jamie Foxx, attacking Times Square and of course some shots of Spidey swinging in to save the day. There's a quick glimpse of the Rhino-bot snapping shut, but it's mostly this attack scene and that's about it. Oh and Stan Lee. This isn't the kind of all-out promo I was expecting, but if you want new footage have at it.
Here's the New Years promo for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2, introduced by Stan Lee:
The "ElectroArrives.com" viral site now points to EnemiesUnite.com showing yet another countdown.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is directed by Marc Webb and written by Jeff Pinker, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) finds, life is busy between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can't come quickly enough. Peter hasn't forgotten the promise he made to Gwen's father to protect her by staying away, but that's a promise he just can't keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past. Sony will release Amazing Spider-Man 2 in theaters next summer on May 2nd. Watch the trailer.

Spidey. Might be good but to much CGI can kill a good movie

I reckon so Jazzy, CGI-wise it looks a bit over the top and pretty unrealistic visually. Good for selling toys though. 🙂

Selling toys your right they can make as much money on that then the movie at times lol. But the way Batman led the way for as much realism as possible was awesome

And can apparently catch a 2-ton police cruiser like it was a hubcap. Granted he got spidey strength, but come on!

Indeed, best part of the trailer was mr. Lee. All that CGI makes it less scary.

In its defense Electro looks fucking creepy. Spiderman looks like a PS2 game.

Agreed. But I think Fox doesn't need the electricity-CGI to portray a scary villain. It's the way his eyes stare at that cop that gives me the creeps...
