86th Academy Awards Trailer

Here we go! The countdown is now 73 days until the Academy Awards next March, meaning we're in the thick of the awards season. Recently, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences unveiled their new logo, now they've launched the first trailer for the 86th Academy Awards. The uplifting song and dance trailer features host Ellen DeGeneres putting on her tux and dancing out on the street with a bevy of tux-wearing dancers. It's very fun and upbeat, but doesn't do much to sell me on the cinematic aspect of the Oscars. Then again, I guess this is the first trailer for the telecast rather than the awards themselves. Enjoy!

The Oscars, or 86th Academy Awards, will air Sunday, March 2nd, 2014, live on ABC. The nominees will be announced on Thursday, January 16th. This new Oscars trailer was debuted by the Academy via their YouTube and Twitter accounts. You can also find a behind-the-scenes making of breakdown of this video there. This first 86th Academy Awards trailer features host Ellen DeGeneres and 250 tuxedo-clad men and women dancing to "The Walker" by indie pop band Fitz and The Tantrums. The trailer was directed by Paul Feig (director of Unaccompanied Minors, Bridesmaids, The Heat). Find the latest Awards Season updates.

It would be pretty cool to see her do the whole show in the same Tux.

That's maybe the best thing I've seen Ellen do. Bravo.

I'm slightly confused. Was that Ellen DeGeneres or a member of the Backstreet Boys?

So the Oscars tag line of "Here we go" is the same as Bud Light? Interesting.

As long as she doesn't bring her usual squealing audience I'm OK with this.

Is there anything she doesn't do perfectly? I am never shy of amazed by her.
