Emily VanCamp Scores Lead in 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'
A lot of Marvel movie news of late has involved Thor: The Dark World, voice casting for Guardians of the Galaxy, and even the studio's Phase 3 plans. But there's still a Phase 2 film that's shrouded in mystery, and that's Anthony and Joe Russo's sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The search for the female lead has been underway for quite some time, with Mary Elizabeth Winstead rumored at one point and actresses like Alison Brie, Teresa Palmer & Emelia Clarke in contention, but now THR reports Marvel has selected "Revenge" star Emily VanCamp to join Chris Evans in Cap's upcoming adventure. Read on.
While Marvel still won't officially confirm who she'll play, VanCamp is being pegged for the part of Sharon Carter, another agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who is the niece of Peggy Carter, Cap's love interest in the first movie. I've only seen a handful of episodes of "Revenge," but from what I know of her it appears VanCamp is spirited enough to hold her own, much in the same way Hayley Atwell did the first time around. Felicity Jones was also up for this role, and while I would have liked to see the Like Crazy actress get some more attention here, she actually just landed a role in another Marvel property - The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
We already know that that Cobie Smulders and Scarlett Johansson are reprising their roles as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents Maria Hill and Black Widow (respectively) in this sequel, so here's hoping VanCamp can become yet another strong female presence in the Marvel movie universe. Captain America: The Winter Soldier doesn't have a start date set in stone yet, but the movie will be a part of Marvel's Phase 2 series and is already set to arrive in theaters on April 4th, 2014. We'll continue to keep you updated on Marvel movies. Thoughts?

Waaaaat?! thats a shock! meaning that she wasn't mentioned like the other actresses on the list, guess its okay but i would have loved seeing Mary Elizabeth Winstead instead.

Sorry but that chick is so ridiculously overrated its not even funny. Shes not even that hot either, I mean shes fine but some dudes act like shes the 2nd Elizabeth Taylor I just dont get it.

She's hotter than Emily VanCamp.Emily is just too cute to be hot.Mary has that something to be hot. Both are fine.

That's Ramona you are talking about...I think people still can't get over her as that character and once they do then she is just another actress. As for Emily Vancamp possibly playing the daughter of Peggy I feel is a perfect role for her and it looks like she is becoming a rising star.

Love the suggestion, too bad it didn't happen

My initial reaction is "really?" But, I was skeptical about Evans at first and think that turned out okay. Proof is really in the script.

Who cares really. It's just schlock.Well produced ,entertaining schlock. But nothing of value would be lost if they did not make it.Any of the "men in spandex" movies.

True, but I'll watch it anyway. It's not like I'm sitting at home reading Voltaire.

Jeesh, no start date yet? I imagine it would have to be soon if they intend to have it released in just 14 months.
