Emma Stone Falls for Ryan Reynolds in New Trailer for 'The Croods'
In just a couple of weeks, the first DreamWorks Animated film featuring the voice of Ryan Reynolds (the other being Turbo coming this summer) arrives in theaters with The Croods. The previous trailers have mostly focused on the family dynamic of the caveman group as they struggle to adapt to the world that is much bigger than they thought and the most recent finally introduced us to Reynolds' character. Now we get even more of his influence on the family as Emma Stone's character is smitten by his modern attitude and inventions, especially shoes. This doesn't look bad, but it seems a little too cartoonish on the humor. Watch!
Here's the new trailer for DreamWorks Animation's The Croods, originally from Apple:
How To Train Your Dragon collaborators Chris Sanders and Kirk DeMicco are co-directing this prehistoric animated feature film, which was also developed with the help of Monty Python troupe member John Cleese. The film follows The Croods, an introverted family, who find themselves guided out of their cave into this dynamic world by a resourceful newcomer (Ryan Reynolds) who may bring more stress than relief to the patriarch (Nicolas Cage) of the family. Catherine Keener, Emma Stone, Clark Duke and Cloris Leachman also voice characters in the DreamWorks Animation film scheduled to hit theaters in 3D on March 22nd.
The voices seem out of place, but maybe after a few minutes in it won't be so noticeable.

Rise of the Guardians was a loss for Dreamworks...and there just doesn't seem to be a lot of buzz around this one. Could we see back-to-back under-performers from the studio? For Dreamworks animation, which doesn't exactly produce a lot of films...back to back 'let downs' would have to be a pretty huge financial blow.

Hate... HATE the character design.

I think the designs are great. They look proper. A lot of people will complain that Stone's character isn't pretty enough.

I've never liked Dreamworks animated films, their character designs are weak (or completely ripped off from Pixar) and they rely heavily on pop culture jokes (which dates the film badly in years to come...a la Family Guy) and I agree with Matt Peloquin, IMO the voices are too 'modern American' for cavemen characters...

How to Train Your Dragon was better than any current DIsney/Pixar movie...but I agree...
