Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Both the first teaser trailer and the five-minute preview that played before Thor: The Dark World in IMAX have given us a brief glimpse at the villain in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. However, we've yet to get a good still image of Sebastian Stan as one of the more iconic villains from Cap's history. Now Empire has delivered our first promo image featuring the metal-armed bad guy, along with a proper shot of Chris Evans in his new navy blue suit, and Scarlett Johansson with her d hair (which probably shaves a lot of time off her morning routine). It's nothing special, but The Winter Soldier looks bad ass. Look below!

Here's the Empire cover for Joe & Anthony Russo's Captain America: The Winter Soldier:

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is directed by Anthony & Joe Russo ("Community" and "Arrested Development") with a script from Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor: The Dark World). Chris Evans reprises his role as Captain America, still struggling to adjust to present day life, when a powerful new enemy emerges. Scarlett Johansson also returns in the film as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Natasha Romanoff along with Anthony Mackie, Emily VanCamp, Robert Redford, Frank Grillo and Sebastian Stan. Disney will release the Marvel sequel in theaters next spring starting April 4th.

I'm liking Scarlett...

Really? Because I absolutely hate it that they made her the black widow. Especially that one scene in the Avengers when she's supposedly tied up by those Russian bad guys with her torn tights, and no shoes... yeah no dice and totally unbelievable in the most boring way possible.

Wheadon wanted an opportunity to shoot a scene like that...he finally got his chance. Honestly it wasn't far fetched...imo.

Xerxexx on Dec 27, 2013

5

I agree the Black Widow pulling that off isn't far fetched at all. Scarlett Johansson pulling that off.. different story. Maybe I just hate her character or her acting. Didn't think she was superhero material.

6

Or just not a fan of Johansson...

Xerxexx on Dec 27, 2013

7

Or a jealous woman? Or a guy with one of those girlfriends who gives him sh!t any time he says that any other woman is attractive. Johansson is one of the most gorgeous women on the planet, and she pulls off Black Widow just fine.

Chris Groves on Dec 27, 2013

Most gorgeous woman? Are you f'in insane? I must have hurt your feelings by having a different opinion. Relax, I'm pretty sure Johansson doesn't give a sh!t who you are. Sadly, I thought Johansson was the hottest in the movie The Island. Now I can't stand her. I don't know who else I'd want to play the part, but I would have preferred someone else. Personally, my preferences include women like Marion Cotillard, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Abigail Spencer. Basically there are way too many women who are way hotter, gorgeous, and/or more beautiful than Johansson. Easily. But my opinion obviously.

You gave your opinion, I gave mine, that's it. No need to get worked up.

I think she looks fine for it, but I don't like the straightened hair in this one.

Suit looks amazing compared to avengers...good work costume designer.

I'm not fan of cap. I think because its too native and domestic. Too patriotic and mottoic. Plus , i have problem with his shield as his weapon.. Good for US moviegoers. Anyway i definitely see this fantasy superhero action for fun. Maybe its villain & action sequences surprise me. Hope marvel give it chance to some other fantastic superhero either.

Ehsan Davodi on Dec 27, 2013

13

Its supposed to be that way. His name is Steve Rogers aka Captain America he is the embodiment of the American spirit circa WWII. Patriotism is his bread and butter.

Xerxexx on Dec 27, 2013

14

Understandable, I'm sure not too many Americans would rush oit to see Captain Isreal, Captain Canada or Captain Panama. We Yanks soak it up though. He needs to team up with Captain Planet, he represents the nations of many.

"Maybe its villain & action sequences surprise me" ... And are you think that i want it?

Ehsan Davodi on Dec 28, 2013

There's only been one Captain America movie and it was set in World War II what did you expect? At least this film will be about agents and conspiracies, I do hope that the film does seem like more of a political thriller type of film than a propaganda/superhero film as the directors and Kevin Feige have mentioned, if it is then it will hopefully add some new elements to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Fidel Reyes on Dec 29, 2013

This is actually my #1 anticipated superhero movie next year. I'm not looking forward to Spider-Man at all, and X-Men is giving me some serious reservations.

Chris Groves on Dec 27, 2013

18

what about guardians of the galaxy? they may not be "superheroes" but categorizing them with Marvel kinda makes them so. I'm with you on capt being #1 and then GOTG would be #2.

JBrotsis on Dec 27, 2013

19

Yeah, I'm very excited for Guardians. I love James Gunn's film "Super" and can't wait to see what kind of insanity he brings to Guardians.

Chris Groves on Dec 28, 2013

Captain America is wearing tactical gloves, but their are vents where the knuckles are?! But their are guards on the second knuckle? Oopsy.

DAVIDPD on Dec 27, 2013

21

I keep reading rumors about his appearance but then the trailers haven't shown any glimpses of him, so...is Arnim Zola going to be in this sequel?

JBrotsis on Dec 27, 2013

22

They haven't shown him but I read an article stating he would have something to do with Bucky's brainwashing/abilities

Fidel Reyes on Dec 29, 2013

23

Good, good! I hate it when these comic movies set up future villains for the sequels but then we never get to see them (like Dr. Conners/The Lizard in Sam Raimi's "Spiderman"). And Arnim Zola should be pretty nifty to see!

JBrotsis on Dec 30, 2013

24

He's undeniably a good villain, more considerably after he had something to do with Red Skull and the tesseract. Plus Toby Jones is a pretty good actor, underrated fellow.

Fidel Reyes on Dec 30, 2013

25

This looks awesome, and thank goodness they got a bad ass looking suit over the Avengers one. This is gonna kick!!

Angry Larry on Dec 28, 2013

26

Is Winter Soldier the same dude that played Bucky?

Dick Bigger on Dec 28, 2013

27

The Winter Soldier is Bucky, and yes that's Sebastian Stan the same actor.

Fidel Reyes on Dec 29, 2013

28

That blue suit sucks. Scarlett is hot though, so at least she'll be a good distraction from foppish limp wrist Hollywood costume designers screwing with an icon....

wobbles9094 on Dec 29, 2013

29

Compared to the avengers uniform?

Xerxexx on Dec 29, 2013

30

Yeah right? The Avengers one was the "foppish limp wristed" one if any. What does foppish mean anyway?

Mitch Cumstein on Dec 29, 2013

31

And by the way, Captain America had more than 1 style of uniform. Was that worn by a different Capt tho or was it still Rogers?

Mitch Cumstein on Dec 29, 2013

32

It was worn by Steve Rogers, it's a suit he used while he was an agent of SHIELD

Fidel Reyes on Dec 29, 2013

33

The suit comes from the comics, not from the minds of Hollywood costume designers. Plus in the trailer Steve is also shown wearing his WWII uniform. So we will still get to see The Star Spangled Avenger in all his colors.

Fidel Reyes on Dec 29, 2013

34

Looks good!
