COMIC-CON 2013
'Ender's Game' Confirmed for Comic-Con with Local 'Fan Experience'
by Alex Billington

Let the Comic-Con craze begin. The annual San Diego Comic-Con kicks off in only 20 days in mid-July, and the major Hollywood studios have started to reveal and confirm their plans for the big summer event. In addition to Lionsgate confirming The Hunger Games, Summit has also revealed their plans to bring the Ender's Game movie to the Con. Not only does their info list a big Hall H panel with footage and the cast, but there is also an "exclusive fan experience" being built on-site in San Diego and giveaways taking place at their convention floor booth. Most of this is standard for Summit, but I'm very curious to see what the fan exhibit looks like featuring "8 unique rooms representing the most iconic environments of Ender's world."
Most of the details were revealed in a press release sent out by Summit. Here is the info from that release:
Summit Entertainment will showcase the studio's highly anticipated film event ENDER'S GAME at Comic-Con 2013, presenting never-before-seen new footage, appearances by cast members and filmmakers, and several massive, interactive fan events. A full slate of activities related to the film to be unveiled at this year's Comic-Con, including:
Hall H Panel - The studio's panel on Thursday, July 18th will feature ENDER'S GAME filmmakers and cast, including producer Bob Orci, director Gavin Hood, and cast members Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld and Abigail Breslin.
Exclusive Fan Experience - Attendees will be able to visit an elaborate, specially constructed ENDER'S GAME exhibit outside of the Hilton Gaslamp, featuring 8 unique rooms representing the most iconic environments of Ender's world, complete with original film props and set pieces used in the movie. Throughout the experience, attendees will be able to see exclusive film footage on LED screens, interact with new digital content, integrate photos of themselves into the highly anticipated Battle Room, and register to win a home make over.
Convention Floor Booth - Summit Entertainment's booth located within the Grand Hall will highlight ENDER'S GAME footage. Premium promotional items will be distributed to the 120,000 attendees walking the convention floor, and booth visitors will be given the opportunity to win "fast passes" to the ENDER'S Game Exclusive Fan Experience, granting them entry without having to wait in line.
We will be returning to cover the Comic-Con 2013 for our 8th consecutive year, and Ender's Game is one of our top priorities. However, it is a bit disconcerting to see them announce every last detail of their plans a full three weeks before the Con. Wouldn't it be better to save all this for a big reveal when Comic-Con kicks off? We will be there to cover that opening no matter what, and plan on taking a complete gallery of photos (and possibly video) of the "Exclusive Fan Experience" show and the various Ender's Game-themed rooms.
In the meantime, watch the first Ender's Game trailer here and follow for updates at if-sentinel.com. We'll be on the lookout for any other Ender's Game news or footage or artwork revealed over the next few weeks. I'm still very excited for this sci-fi adaptation and it looks like they're going all out at Comic-Con this year, so expect lots of Ender's Game updates along with all the other movie madness in San Diego this summer.

Meh. The director of Wolverine Origins... there's no miracle that will make him suddenly become a great director worthy of doing an epic Ender's Game film. No thanks.

That same director won an Academy award before for a movie that he both direct an adapted a screenplay for.

If they hadn't announced this til the week before I probably would have broken things. Or is there a downside to announcing early that I don't know about? (it'll be my first time going)

I suspect the thinking was that the latest they announced it the less chance the Gay Activists would have to create a ruckus. I think "Geek and Out" will be hanging out at the Geek & Sundry events anyways, but you know how these media types think....
