Eva Green is 'A Dame to Kill For' as Sexy Ava Lord in 'Sin City' Sequel

After months of slow casting, including new pivotal roles for actors like Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ray Liotta, the title role in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For has finally been filled. Dimension Films has announced that Dark Shadows and Casino Royale actress Eva Green has taken the role of Ava Lord. In the press release, directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller said, "We've been wanting to tell this story for a very long time. From the start, we knew that the actor would need to be able to embody the multifaceted characteristics of this femme fatale and we found that in Eva Green. We are ecstatic that Eva is joining us."
Miller calls the character, "every man’s most glorious dreams come true, she's also every man's darkest nightmares." Green is seductive, sexy and one hell of an actress, so this is some great casting. In addition, a press release has announced that Julia Garner, who has had small but impressive turns in Martha Marcy May Marlene and The Perks of Being a Wallflower, has been cast as a stripper opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character Johnny. The actress can also be seen in The Last Exorcism 2 in March, but this is surely her most high profile role to date.
Bruce Willis also recently rejoined the film, and even though he died in Sin City, most of this sequel takes place before the original film. Josh Brolin, replacing Clive Owen, has an important role opposite Green as the story sees his character Dwight hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord, and then watches his life go straight to hell. Chronologically, this story takes place prior to “The Big Fat Kill” (featured in the film 'Frank Miller's Sin City') and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face. Production is underway now and the film comes to theaters in 3D on October 4th, 2013.

I think Sin City is one of the few times an ensemble cast has really worked out.

O.O que wolf howl. I'd kill for her, no questions asked. I believe Billy Madison said it best: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHrzzdr0J_M

Wow, good casting. I though Jolie would've been a good choice too, but i'm not gonna complain with Green.

They nailed the casting in the first movie (despite what people may say of Clive Owen in the role, I thought he did fine), and it looks like they're making all the right decisions again. Green has the right amount of sultry sex appeal to pull off Ava Lord convincingly. *SPOILER ALERT* I'm just curious if they plan to bring back Mr. Owen for the climax of "A Dame to Kill For" section of the film.

I think they will...they might want to be keeping it under wraps(pun intended) but I don't think there is any excuse not to have him back, especially in this type of film where actors can come in whenever their schedule is clear and knock out a ton of work in a relatively short period of time due to the green screen method.

I don't know what negative comments people may have said about Clive Owen, I don't recall hearing any, but I thought he was badass as Dwight. He was probably my favorite character.

To be honest I can't recall where I saw the unfair comments against Mr. Owen's performance now. I believe it was late one night when I was slinking through a much less polite section of the internet than this one. As I said above, I liked him in the role and I do hope he returns for a small cameo to finish out the storyline as per the comic.

He was good, but Mickey Rourke's turn as Marv was icing on the cake. Sin City was the first direct adaptation of a comic or graphic novel that actually brought together quality film making and faithfulness to the source material, and the characters were perfect. You could never cast a character more perfectly than Rourke as Marv.

Excellent! A few years back, Angelina Jolie was rumored to be 'the dame'. Fuck that.
