Yet another reveal that deserves to be filed under a "They're Back!" category. This time it's Monty Python returning, the British comedy troupe responsible for bringing us endlessly brilliant hilarity in the 70s & 80s. Under the direction of Terry Jones, the surviving members have been working a brand new feature titled Absolutely Anything starring Benedict Cumberbatch. While details have been sparse since first being reported about last year, our friends at Twitch have found the first rather colorful poster art for the film. My first thought: is this an animated movie? It's half CGI so not really, but this is an oddly fanciful first poster.
Here's the teaser one sheet for Terry Jones' new sci-fi comedy Absolutely Anything, found by Twitch online:
As the poster lists, Absolutely Anything stars Terry Jones, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin (all part of the original Monty Python) and Robin Williams as the voice of a talking dog. The sci-fi comedy is "not a Monty Python picture, but it certainly has that sensibility." The Pythons are voicing key roles as a group of aliens who endow an earthling (Benedict Cumberbatch) with the power to do "absolutely anything" to see what a mess he'll make of things — which is precisely what happens. There's also a talking dog named Dennis who seems to understand more about the mayhem that ensues than anyone else does. In addition to Cumberbatch, the cast includes Gemma Arterton in a key role. We're not sure of any set release plans yet.

I'm intrigued. I'm in need of original, wacky, smart, physical comedy the likes of the original Monty. I hope this is good.

No John Cleese in the photo... I'm glad he is listed as participating, in the body of the article.

The poster style reminds me of 60s British comedies. Let's hope this is more Fish than Fierce…

What about Eric Idle? He's not in the project jet you choose a picture with him in it...

'First Colorful Poster for Monty Python Comedy 'Absolutely Anything' Yet in the article (if I may quote) it says "not a Monty Python picture, but it certainly has that sensibility". Now I don't mean to be pedantic...

IMBD is no longer showing Benedict Cumberbatch attached to this project. I wonder if this poster is actually fan art. Doesn't seem to be any other news about it for some time now.
