Get a first look at one of this season's top awards contenders. Fox Searchlight has released a batch of photos introducing us to Steve McQueen's 12 Years a Slave, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor as Solomon Northup, a man living in New York during the mid-1800s who is kidnapped and sold into slavery in the deep south. His first owner is a Baptist preacher played by Benedict Cumberbatch. And Michael Fassbender plays vile owner Edwin Epps. McQueen on what got to him: "It's the situation and the detail of Solomon's recollection of those events that ingrained itself in my brain, and the humanity of everyone involved." See them below.

Can't wait for this. Ejiofor is one of the most underrated actors of our time, I hope he gets well-deserved recognition with this. His Operative character in Serenity was one of the greatest villains of any movie.

WTF?? If this is another Black & White art that wana say this two didn't had any problem whit each other (IN THE PAST) or they problem was just cultural , not historical or humanistic or vigilantistic , WHY SHOULD I SEE THIS? I think black peoples deserve more realistic historical pictures like uncle tom and if you don't want make such movies because General feelings hurts then don't do this guys , DON'T DO or at least change your TITLE. This pics doesn't show anything about SLAVE or SLAVERY , this is another typical movie about white peoples educates black guys. I waiting sooooooooo long for this and my opinion said to me , this pics disappointing me. Yes , maybe im wrong because i doesnt see the film yet. Then im waiting So I would still waiting
