Back to the Future

Just before Christmas last year, a great present arrived for fans of both Back to the Future and LEGO. The community driven LEGO site Cuusoo pushed forward a potential new set that would allow fans to recreate the DeLorean time machine. After receiving the right number of votes to go before a real LEGO jury, the toy block company approved the set, and now it's finally coming to shelves this summer. Brick News (via Gizmodo) has our first official look at the new set, complete with Marty McFly and Doc Brown minifigures, and it looks even more detailed than the proposed model sent before the jury. Check it out!

Here's the first look at the official Back to the Future DeLorean LEGO set:

Back to the Future LEGO Set

It's a little difficult to read the text, but the LEGO set comes with pieces that will allow fans to build all three versions of the time machine from each of the films in the trilogy. The text also points out that this is a one-off exclusive, so it doesn't sound like we can look forward to any Hill Valley playsets down the road. But still, it's great to see that a community of fans can come together in order to get something they really want. The set is supposed to hit shelves on July 18th, so keep your eyes open at stores. And if you're a big LEGO fan, you should probably watch the surprisingly fantastic teaser trailer for The LEGO Movie right here.

I heard a rumor that it will bring instructions to modify to match each of the 3 movies.

That would be perfect, would prefer one with wheels on the ground so I can set some lighter fuel aflame behind ...

As indicated in the second paragraph: "It's a little difficult to read the text, but the LEGO set comes with pieces that will allow fans to build all three versions of the time machine from each of the films in the trilogy."

I was about to say the same thing. Guess people don't like to read. I love the minifigs and the fact that you can make all 3 is cool but I'm not crazy about the model aesthetically from the photo here. Some areas are too chunky and squared off like the hood and around the windshield. It doesn't even look like the doors will be able to open upwards. Maybe seeing it in person will change my mind but as of now I don't think I'd buy it.

Yep.. hate reading... that's why I always wait for the movie to come out 😀 Well at least my sources weren't lying I guess...
