Wrong Cops

The trailer for Quentin Dupieux's Wrong just arrived recently, and now another trailer for a new film from the director has arrived before some exclusive footage premieres here at Sundance (see our kick-off of coverage right here). Wrong Cops is a multi-chapter story where a bored cop (Mark Burnham) sells drugs and harasses a teenager (Marilyn Manson) just to pass the time. The film is being shot segment-by-segment as financing comes in little by little. Dupieux's showed the first chapter at Cannes last year, and is showing the first 45 minutes (or three chapters) here at Sundance. If we have time to check it out, we'll certainly keep you posted on what looks like another peculiar film if this first trailer is any indicator. Enjoy.

Here's the first trailer for Quentin Dupieux's Wrong Cops, originally from Twitch:

Imagine a Los Angeles where crime is so low that a bored cop (Mark Burnham) sells drugs and harasses a teenager (Marilyn Manson) to pass the time. Shot in stand-alone chapters as it is being financed, screened, and released, Wrong Cops stars Mark Burnham, Marilyn Manson, Steve Little, Eric Wareheim, Grace Zabriskie and more. Quentin Dupieux (Rubber, Wrong) wrote and directed the film which is screening the first three chapters (jut 45 minutes of footage) here at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. Stay tuned for more coverage on this and other festival news straight from Park City. We're curious to see where this goes.

Very interested! I was intrigued by Wrong, and I thought Rubber was pretty odd, in a good way!

Real Cops. American cops are funny. In the same way wrestlers are funny. I watched this documentary other night, it's not that different: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01pzz69/Storyville_20122013_The_House_I_Live_In/

Isn't that the best stuff sometimes? Although, a drinks (maybe 7 or 8) makes it funnier. Pass the gin and tonic.

It's been 5, 6 days, name still not fixed; maybe no-one works here during Sundance? 🙂

This reminds me of the trailer for Tim Heidecker's The Comedy that ran a few months ago. Weirder, but it struck me exactly the same way - self-indulgent, being clever exclusively for the sake of being clever, and odd for the sake of being odd. Movies like this exist solely within themselves, too caught up to make an actual statement about anything.

So i assume funding will start after sundance?
