Fox Lands 'The Knot,' 'The Bump' & 'The Nest' Sites for Trio of Films

If the usual romantic comedies just aren't hitting your sweet spot anymore, 20th Century Fox might have an interesting series of films in the works to whet your appetite. Deadline has word that the studio has just picked up the websites known as The Knot, The Bump and The Nest with the hopes of turning each of them into ensemble films that progress from getting married, to expecting a baby and raising those kids, which is what each of those websites offers advice on. In a way, this could be like a more glossy, fanciful version of the Up documentary series, but obviously with shorter time between films, and that may be good.
Natalie Krinsky, who wrote some episodes of "Gossip Girl" and also worked as a story editor on the series, will make her feature film writing debut. We're just hoping that this series has more to offer than a cavalcade of stars, unlike films like What to Expect When You're Expecting, New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day. Initially, the idea of buying the rights to these websites seems silly, but with this package, people know that there's a series of movies in the works, just like any comic book or novel property with multiple chapters. This might not be for everyone, but it's certainly an outside the box idea for romantic comedies.
