We're all obviously familiar with the exploits of Spring Breakers and 127 Hours star James Franco, but don't forget his younger brother Dave Franco is an actor, too. Dave has been working for a few years now, appearing in movies like Superbad, 21 Jump Street and Warm Bodies, and during that time he's become friends with Kick-Ass 2 star Christopher Mintz-Plasse. The two have released two very NSFW shorts together on Funny or Die, not to mention starring in Fright Night together, and now Deadline reports they'll be joining the unlikely pairing of Seth Rogen and Zac Efron in Nicholas Stoller's latest comedy, Townies.
The story follows a regular guy (Rogen) who lives close to a college fraternity house, where a raucous frat president (Efron) decides to make the guy's family life miserable. Rose Byrne will play Rogen's wife, while Franco plays Efron's best friend and frat vice president. No word on who Mintz-Plasse will play, but presumably he'll be a member of the frat as well. Sounds like Townies could turn out to be pretty great. Franco and Mintz-Plasse obviously work well together, and with both fitting into the whole Rogen/James Franco/Judd Apatow comedy troupe, expect to see more from both of them sooner rather than later.
Dave Franco...the James Franco we deserve..but not the one we need right now.
