Nymphomaniac Trailer

"Most people don't scream until I hit them." It's time. After all the teasing between clips and posters, the first full trailer for Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac has finally arrived online and it's every bit as absurd, intriguing, stimulating and wacky as you're expecting (or maybe not). The film will chronicle the life story of the nymphomaniac Joe, played Charlotte Gainsbourg (seen above). Along the way she meets the likes of Uma Thurman as Mrs. H, Shia LaBeouf as Jerôme, Jamie Bell as "K" and Stellan Skarsgård as Seligman. The young version of her, first introduced earlier in the summer, is played by Stacy Martin. This trailer doesn't hold back with the sexual footage so watch out. I'll admit I'm a bit more excited for this now.

Here's the first full NSFW trailer for Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac, direct from the film's YouTube:

Update! The original video has been banned from YouTube, but can still be found on their official Vimeo.

Forget about love. A self-diagnosed nymphomaniac recounts her erotic experiences to the man who saved her after a beating. French-English actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, who appeared explicitly in von Trier's Antichrist a few years ago, will play Joe, as the story is about her "hidden erotic desires" and spans her life story from a young age to age 50. Nymphomaniac is written and directed by controversial Danish filmmaker Lars von Trier (Breaking the Waves, Dancer in the Dark, Dogville, Antichrist, Melancholia), who filmed this last year and is preparing a hardcore version for Cannes 2014. The film may be released later in the year in Denmark on December 25th, but we still don't know have any US release date. Visit the official website.

How many of the excited people with sex and vaginas scenes, will actually enjoy this film when they notice how longis the movie and the rhythm of the film

toonfed on Nov 22, 2013

That's the beautiful part. Von Trier might actually MAKE money on this film because of all the juveniles who think they're going to get non stop action. By the time they figure out it has a story they have to follow, well too late, their money is spent.

Chuckee Knowlton on Nov 24, 2013

1/2 a beejer isn't something you expect to see in a Youtube trailer.

lewinston on Nov 22, 2013

Don't kid yourself. It's porn.

txJM on Nov 22, 2013

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Ross Carroll on Nov 22, 2013

The bad thing is Von Trier added al sort of drama crap. I just want to see the porn.

Nash on Nov 23, 2013

Tired joke.

Having once made the terrible decision of renting/watching/fast-forwarding Von Trier's awful Antichrist, I'm not about to make the same mistake. No amount of art house fucking could get me to sit through another of his shitty films.

cobrazombie on Nov 23, 2013

I feel you in a way. I never bothered to sit down and watch it. What I read about it was quite enough to know I wasn't going to enjoy sitting down and actually watching it. Just weird, scary, gory and bad. However I did go and see Melancholia in theaters, and I quite liked it. A lot of down time, too much maybe, but ***SPOILER*** I had to give it to Lars Von Trier, he made the end of the world look quite beautiful. Hard thing to do. So yeah, I'm thinking about passing on Nymphomaniac. Really like 4 - 5 hours? No thanks.

conradthegreat on Nov 24, 2013

mr.Sly i think Antichrist was rare horror flick. Who many horror you know that show dark faces of inside of humanity? Every horror nowadays become slasher and for 10 years boys (However its not just horror merit)This is not typical horror movie. A Dramatic Psychopathical Dark Adventure In Depths of (Body & Soul) of Man & Wife. I think Antichrist definitely not perfect but very higher than usual horrors.

Ehsan Davodi on Nov 24, 2013

No, you definitely should not waste your time with this or ANY Von Trier movie. He's far too good for you but you wouldn't understand one of his films if it was spelled out for you.

Chuckee Knowlton on Nov 24, 2013

Terrible argument. Because someone doesn't like Von Trier films, they must not understand his high brow intellect? Sometimes, and this might just amaze you, people think films about dark subjects and characters with emotional issues are garbage. I know, I know...That's a stretch, but it does happen. Problem is, art is loose term in filmmaking (well, in everything actually). Some people see it as the suggestion of incidents rather than actually seeing the incident itself. Kind of like the audience knowing a woman's a nymphomaniac without actually seeing her lips wrapped around his dick sucking on it for 3 hours. But I wouldn't expect you'd understand that unless it was spelled out for you. Oh wait, I just did...

Quanah on Nov 24, 2013

Even worse counter argument. The man just wrote off ALL Von Trier films by the ONE he saw. Never mind the fantastic comedies, dramas, horror and sci-fi this very capable director has done. Truth be told, very few of his films have sex scenes in them. I know it's difficult for film fans like him and you to handle mature themes, but give at least SOME of them a try before writing off his entire output. Don't believe all the childish hype about the guy.

Chuckee Knowlton on Nov 28, 2013

AND ANOTHER THING: "Kind of like the audience knowing a woman's a nymphomaniac without actually seeing her lips wrapped around his dick sucking on it for 3 hours." This just proves you have never seen a Von Trier film or you wouldn't say anything so ridiculous. I can't believe the children that post here.

Chuckee Knowlton on Nov 28, 2013

My quoted response was not in reference to a Von Trier film, but to the difference between suggestive and literal styles in the art of filming. Despite my obvious exaggeration of the generalized literal style in reference to the "sucking on it for 3 hours", this particular film has a great deal of literal styling, which with some of the posters here is distasteful in their opinions. They are all, whether you like it or not, entitled to their opinions, just as you are. The real problem is you were rude because someone disagreed with you, and you make it plainly unmistakable who the real child actually is, as you've attacked a person that you do not know because of their opinion, which you don't agree with. My only hope is that you can learn to cope with other people's attitudes and assessments of things like movies without acting like an adolescent yourself, but in reading your two rather tired, weak responses to me, I can see you're a long ways from that level of adult, mature interactions. Here's what I'm going to do for you, which I don't normally do for anyone except my teenage children or my three year old daughter--I'm going to change your life and teach you something. Ready? Here I go: If you don't agree with a poster on this website based on their distaste of a particular film or director, instead of attacking the person's credibility which is a waste of time seeing as how you know nothing of cobrazombie, defend the legitimacy of the material in an effort to persuade him to give it another shot. It might go something like this: "cobrazombie, I can see how you might not like Von Trier films based on that experience, but I would recommend watching the film Dogville before assessing Von Trier's entire body of work. Dogville is an amazing achievement in storytelling without the same tone you see in the trailer for Nymphomaniac. Also, Nymphomaniac certainly has something for audiences, even if it's a distaste of people who have sexual obsessions, which I'm sure is in part Von Triers attempt: to cause us all to question our sexuality on some level." Now, welcome to the world of developed adults. Oh, and you're welcome. Here ends my lesson. I'm moving on from all this now.

Quanah on Nov 28, 2013

Oh, boo hoo! Good lord, do you expect anyone to read that long of a reply? You must LOVE the sound of your typing.
