G-Rated 'Anchorman' Spin-Off for Ron Burgundy's Son & Dog Coming?
In addition to preparing an alternate cut of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues with completely different jokes that may play in theaters, director Adam McKay has an idea that might take the series in a whole new direction without Will Ferrell. Surely you're already rolling your eyes (and I'll stop calling you Shirley), but just hear the guy out. Rather than doing a spin-off on any of the other news team members or anything like that, McKay wants to go in a completely different family friendly direction. How would the director of mostly R-rated comedies do that? By following Ron Burgundy's son and his pet dog Baxter!
While speaking with Collider, McKay let out a little detail about the sequel and elaborated:
"I guess it's out of the bag that Ron has a son? I mean, I guess it's kinda out of the bag that Ron has a son? Or did I just let it out of the bag? I just let it out of the bag. So we wanted to do the adventures of his son, Walter Burgundy, and Baxter. And I actually pitched it to Adam Goodman at Paramount and he said, 'That's not a bad idea.' So there's a chance we might be doing a 'Milo & Otis,' G-rated, PG, 'Adventures Of Walter And Baxter,' which would be amazing."
McKay has apparently always wanted to explore the world of Baxter when he's not hanging around with Ron Burgundy and the gang, and this sounds like it could be adorable and funny. After all, if Phil Lord & Chris Miller can deliver R-rated action comedy with 21 Jump Street and hilarious animated fare for kids in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and The LEGO Movie, then we think McKay can do the same. McKay also says that they might make Anchorman 2.5, which would be one of Ron Burgundy's lost weekends while stuck in an elevator, and splice it into the sequel on Blu-Ray and DVD. But for now, let's just stay excited about Anchorman 2: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and have some Scotchy Scotch Scotch ice cream. Thoughts?

Totally fine with that, the best gags aren't the adult ones anyway. At least not in the first one.
