Gemma Arterton & Saoirse Ronan Get Bloody in UK 'Byzantium' Trailer

Just a couple months ago, we got our first glimpse at Neil Jordan's dark vampire drama Byzantium starring Gemma Arterton (Clash of the Titans) and Saoirse Ronan (Hanna). With a story that spans centuries, these two young vampires get into trouble in present day when Clara's (Arterton) brothel business and Eleanor's (Ronan) relationship with a sick young boy (Caleb Landry Jones) threaten to expose their immortal secret and put their lives in jeopardy. This looks like the kind of vampire story that isn't just capitalizing on the vampire craze started by Twilight, and just might be a breath of fresh air this summer.

Byzantium is directed by Irish filmmaker Neil Jordan, of the films Mona Lisa, The Crying Game, The End of the Affair, The Good Thief, Breakfast on Pluto, The Brave One and Ondine previously, as well as work on "The Borgias". The screenplay was written by Moira Buffini, based on her own play. This was shot mostly in Ireland as A Vampire Story, and stars Jonny Lee Miller, Caleb Landry Jones, Sam Riley and Tom Hollander. WestEnd Films produced the film which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, and StudioCanal is distributing in the UK while IFC Films releases the film this summer June 28th in the US.
