Geoffrey Rush in Oscar Contender 'The Book Thief' New UK Trailer

The Book Thief

A bit of confusion occurred with readers of The New York Times as 20th Century Fox took out two full pages in the paper to advertise their World War II drama The Book Thief. However, what was strange was that with the exception of the newspaper's title and page numbers, the content was seemingly blank, offering only the URL to the film's website in very small print at the bottom of a page. Now the hype continues with a new UK trailer for the film that will likely be an Oscar contender. Geoffrey Rush, Emily Watson and Sophie Nélisse star in the film, which is now the only WWII set drama in the Oscar race since George Clooney's film The Monuments Men was pushed back to 2014. Watch the trailer now!

Here's the new UK trailer for Brian Percival's The Book Thief from YouTube:

Based on the beloved bestselling book by Markus Zusak, The Book Thief is directed by Brian Percival ("Downton Abbey") and wirtten by Michael Petroni (The Rite, The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys). The film tells the inspirational story of a spirited and courageous young girl named Liesel Meminger (Sophie Nélisse) who transforms the lives of everyone around her in Nazi-occupied Germany when she is sent to live with a new family and discovers the magic of books, only to share it with anyone she can. Geoffrey Rush and Emily Watson also star in the drama which 20th Century Fox releases in theaters on November 15th this fall.
