'Harold & Kumar' Directors Team with Rogen & Goldberg for 'Cherries'

October 3, 2013

Jon Hurwitz & Hayden Schlossberg

It sounds like This is The End directors Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are going to be pretty busy over the next couple years. The duo is gearing up for The Interview (which just gained Lizzy Caplan) and also prepping their animated venture Sausage Party. Now they're producing a new comedy for another duo as Deadline reports Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle writers Jon Hurwitz & Hayden Schlossberg (who directed Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay) will direct a raunchy comedy once titled Cherries. The duo are currently doing a quick rewrite on the script from newcomers Brian & Jim Kehoe.

The story sounds right up the alley of the duo just coming off directing American Reunion as it basically feels like the parental side of the plot of American Pie. The story follows three fathers who are determined to stop their daughters from following through with a pact to lose their virginity on prom night. American Reunion was mostly pure nostalgia, but it had some solid comedic moments, and Hurwitz & Schlossberg have proven to be solid on the page for comedy. Plus, with Rogen and Goldberg producing, there's a good chance some familiar faces could sign up to star. Bill Hader would be a good place to start. Thoughts?
