"No referees, no rules, pure fighting, man-to-man." Following up the first images and poster last week, an official trailer has debuted online for Keanu Reeves' Man of Tai Chi, directed by and starring Reeves and The Raid star Iko Uwais. This isn't the highest quality first trailer, but it does show a lot of kick ass martial arts fighting, which it looks like there will be a lot of in this film, obviously. It has a sleek almost platform-fighter-game feel to it, with the locations and fighting shots, but I don't mind. I'm still excited to see this at some film festival coming up, this might be cool, it is Keanu's directorial debut after all. Let the show begin!
Watch the first trailer for Keanu Reeves' Man of Tai Chi, found on YouTube (via SlashFilm):
Keanu Reeves (The Matrix, Speed) makes his directorial debut with Man of Tai Chi, written by Michael G. Cooney. Little is known about the plot, but stuntman Tiger Hu Chen takes the lead as a young martial artist in Beijing whose skill places him in position to take advantage of lucrative opportunities but also make great sacrifices. Reeves also plays the film's villain alongside a cast that also features Karen Mok (So Close), Simon Yam (Ip Man) and Iko Uwais (The Raid), all with fight choreography from Yuen Woo Ping (The Matrix, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon). There's no release date yet, so stay tuned for more information.

Can't wait to see the english version (if there is one). I hate forced sub titles since I watch movies to watch movies, not to read 🙂

Watching Keanu Reeves act is like watching a hamster trying to get out of a paper bag; not very exciting.

I thought you wanted to say both are hilarious

The hamster trying to get out of the bag would only be hilarious if it was making cute little squeaking sounds. I think Keanu doesn't have the acting range to make sounds such as that.

Keanu Reeves gets a lot of shit from people but I actually love the guy. Always been a fan of his films. Guess it's a unique liking you must have. Plus the guy is known for being probably one of the kindest humans, how can you hate on him?

Agreed. I think he had his good share of movies and some so so. But he's unique for sure and growing up in the 80/90s how can you not like him! Point break all the way 😉

Too soon to judge. Let the movie make its debut, then we can criticize it, fairly.

Nice.....to see the guy from the Chateau Reloaded fight take the lead in this. Respect for Neo. Not the greatest actor, but I hope to be watching this.

its a tournament film, u don't act in a tournament film, its design to have cheesy lines with badass action and fight sequences, kind of like fast five

How can you complain about Reeves acting based on like 5 seconds of total footage with him ? Besides, a martial arts movie is not where you show your mindblowing acting performance. There are other movie types for that.

I dig it. I dont think they are taking themselves 100% seriously. Supposed to be over the top, imo. However, either they cgi'd Keanu's face or he did get some plastic surgery. I mean he has not aged at all and his face does't move when he talks. lol
