Just after landing a role in Guy Ritchie's adaptation of The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Jared Harris has landed another pivotal role in a forthcoming film. This time Deadline reports Harris has landed a lead role in MGM and Fox 2000's remake of Poltergeist from producer Sam Raimi and director Gil Kenan (Monster House). Harris is a former star of AMC's "Mad Men" and can currently be seen in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, but he'll have a bit more of a bombastic role in the horror remake as he plays a character named Carrigan Burke, a television personality who hosts a show called “Haunted House Cleaners." More below!
The story doesn't fall too far from the original as it follows a family who, struggling to make ends meet, relocates to an outdated suburban home and is confronted by an angry spirit who kidnaps their young daughter and challenges them to band together to rescue her from the clutches of evil. Sam Rockwell plays the father while Rosemarie DeWitt plays his wife. One more role that has yet to be announced is that of Dr. Brooke Powell, Carrigan’s ex-wife who is a parapsychologist at a local university, and her team investigates the supernatural events surrounding the disappearance of the girl. Stay tuned.
