At one point, Jason Bateman, Leslie Mann, Zac Efron, Jason Sudeikis, and Malin Akerman were all in talks to star in an adaptation of This is Where I Leave You, an adaptation Jonathan Tropper's novel about four siblings who come home to sit shiva after their father passes away, and what happens when they're trapped in the same house for a week. Adam Shankman was going to direct, but then was replaced by Shawn Levy and it wasn't clear if any of the cast would stick around. Now THR has word that Bateman is returning to the project, but some new actresses are going to test for some of the female roles. More below!
Bateman will be working with Levy to test some new actresses for the film which include Ari Graynor, Isla Fisher, Zoe Saldana, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Kathryn Hahn. Most of the female talent is vying for the role of Penny, the love that got away who works at her father’s company. But Hahn is up for the role of Bateman’s wife, a woman who is having an affair with his boss. In addition, Amy Adams has been mentioned as a potential cast member, but she doesn't have to read for the part. Sounds like a hell of a cast for a film which Tropper adapted from his own book, and it's something different for Levy, who is also dabbling in R-rated comedy with The Internship (trailer on Wednesday) this summer. Sound good?
