Jason Clarke Heads to Gaghan's 'Candy Store' with Chris Hemsworth
It's time for Jason Clarke to take off. After having pivotal supporting roles in films like Lawless and Zero Dark Thirty last year, the Australian actor is really going to blossom over the next couple years. Clarke will be seen in The Great Gatsby and White House Down, but he also has a lead role in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and just confirmed to MTV that he'll be joining Chris Hemsworth in Candy Store, the new crime thriller which was written and will be directed by Stephen Gaghan (Traffic). Clarke becomes the first official cast member with word coming straight from the actor that he'll be shooting it right after the Apes sequel.
And if the previous stories are any indicator, the cast for this film should be quite remarkable. Hemsworth is supposed to be attached and we haven't heard anything to refute that. In addition, when talk of Candy Store first surfaced, some pretty impressive names like Brad Pitt, Denzel Washington, Christoph Waltz and Jamie Foxx were said to be circling. For those just joining, the story follows a highly trained, deep cover operative who starts his life over in Brooklyn as a beat cop only to discover the global organization he was dedicated to fighting before is now operating in his new backyard. Pitt would be playing the lead, but we're not sure what role Clarke would have just yet. Either way, it sounds like a great opportunity.
