Jeff Bridges' Adaptation of 'The Giver' Set to Hit Theaters August 2014
Briefly: It's happening. It's actually happening. The upcoming adaptation of the beloved book The Giver, which almost everyone probably read in school at some point, is now set for a release late next summer. Via Box Office Mojo on twitter, The Weinstein Company has set an August 15th, 2014 release for The Giver, which will be directed by Phillip Noyce (though that could change). Jeff Bridges, who is also producing the adaptation, will star as the Giver. He meets with Jonas (being played by Brenton Thwaites), the dystopian community's Receiver of Memories, who learns to confront and understand the lies that inform the society. Meryl Streep will star as the Chief Elder. Casting is finishing as they head into production later this year.

I read the book when I was about 12 or 13, so I'm quite interested in checking out the film version.
