After delivering the first two installments of the Iron Man franchise and the lackluster sci-fi Cowboys & Aliens, director Jon Favreau is ready to go indie. His early career behind the camera launched with Made (he also wrote Swingers), and now he's getting back to those roots with a film called Chef, described as "a character study" that he wrote and will also star in alongside Sofia Vergara, with Bobby Cannavale (Win Win) and John Leguizamo close to landing roles as well. The film would follow Favreau as an emotional chef running a Los Angeles-based restaurant. Sounds like a solid entertaining role for Favreau.
Favreau is no stranger to mixing his love of food and Hollywood since he produced the series "Dinner for Five" which featured tons of stars sitting down for a meal and conversation about life, the film industry and more (you can watch all the episodes right here). This sounds like the perfect film for Favreau to focus on after getting caught up in the blockbuster machine for years. Plus with Vergara playing his ex-wife and Cannavale his sous-chef, this could be a great film to catch at Sundance and other film festivals next year. THR says shooting is expected to begin in June, and we hope to hear more soon.

No one cares. Sad. Thanks for Iron Man 2 and Cowboys vs Aliens.
