I, Frankenstein

Briefly: Lionsgate has confirmed an updated release date for the comic book adaptation I, Frankenstein. Based on the graphic novel and original screenplay by Kevin Grevioux (creator of the Underworld series), the film stars Aaron Eckhart as Adam, a contemporary Frankenstein monster now living in a dark, gothic metropolis who finds himself caught in an all-out, centuries old war between two immortal clans. Lionsgate had originally set the film for release this September, but has since moved the release to January 24th, 2014 and added 3D into the mix. Seems like they're selling this as a Resident Evil/Underworld-like replica.

Included with the I, Frankenstein date change was this quote: "The film's franchise potential, given its large scale premise, setting and creative elements are perfectly aligned with the 3D experience and the studio wants to put forth the best version of the film possible to audiences." Set in a dystopic present where vigilant gargoyles and ferocious demons rage in a battle for ultimate power, Victor Frankenstein's creation Adam (Aaron Eckhart) finds himself caught in the middle as both sides race to discover the secret to his immortality. Directed by Stuart Beattie (of Tomorrow When the War Began), this also stars Bill Nighy, Yvonne Strahovski, Miranda Otto, Jai Courtney and Aden Young as Victor Frankenstein. In theaters 2014.

me too, Xerxexx, someone like Eckhart playing the monster? intriguing, i'm well up for some of that. but that Lionsgate quote... a date change just to let the two headed beast of 'franchise potential' and '3D' rears its ugly head? neither of these words make me think of 'the best version of the film possible'. can we not just sort out the film first, and concentrate on a good script and quality acting from the likes of Eckhart and Nighy? thought not.

Totally agree. Odds are we'll probably get a bastardized version, bit I got some hope.
