Early next year, Kevin Hart will be teaming up with rapper turned actor Ice Cube for the buddy cop comedy Ride Along, and now Universal is teaming the comedian up with a familiar name from the sports world. Deadline has word that Hart will star in Ballers, a basketball comedy from Imagine Entertainment that will team him up with NBA championship winning superstar LeBron James from the Miami Heat. The story follows Hart as a man who lives in the shadow of his professional basketball star brother (James), but gets a chance to run the court when he and his friends hit a weekend fantasy basketball camp in Miami.
More than likely, Hart and James will be at odds, but will probably end up playing ball together at some point. Of course, a match-up pitting them against each other as rivals seems like a lost cause since Hart isn't the biggest guy standing at just 5’3″ while James comes in at 6’8," towering above him. A director won't be brought in until Hart finishes co-writing the script with his collaborators Joey Wells, Chris Spencer and Harry Ratchford. As for James, this will mark his feature starring debut, something he's been wanting for awhile (he's even hinted at wanting to make a Space Jam sequel). It's just one more comparison between James and the legendary Michael Jordan, though it won't be hard to top his acting career. Thoughts?
