After the success of Bridesmaids, former "SNL" cast member Kristen Wiig could have done anything, and she decided to move away form studio comedies towards a passion project called Imogene. The indie comedy follows a woman (Wiig) who ends up in the custody of her obnoxious, gambling addicted mother (Annette Bening) after faking a suicide attempt to get her ex-boyfriend back. Now the first trailer is here, with the new title Girl Most Likely, and it looks mildly amusing. Wiig is doing her best, but it almost seems like it's trying too hard to be that quirky comedy, especially with Matt Dillon's character. Watch!
Here's the first trailer for Shari Springer Berman & Robert Pulcini's Girl Most Likely, from Yahoo:
Cinema Verite directors Shari Springer BermanĀ and Robert Pulcini are at the helm of Girl Most Likely (formerly Imogene), an indie comedy from writer Michelle Morgan (Middle of Nowhere). Kristen Wiig produces and stars as a moderately successful New York playwright who fakes a suicide attempt in order to win back her ex-boyfriend, only to be placed under the custody of her mother (Annette Bening), an obnoxious and compulsive gambler. Making things even more complicated is the arrival of a crazed suitor (Matt Dillon) for her mother, who claims he's part of the CIA. The film gets a limited release on July 19th.
