While director Martin Scorsese is supposed to be developing an adaptation of Jo Nesbo's Norwegian thriller The Snowman, his Wolf of Wall Street star Leonardo DiCaprio is picking up one of the author's other works. Deadline has word that DiCaprio will produce and potentially star in an adaptation of Blood on the Snow, based on Jo Nesbo's book which was released under the pseudonym Tom Johansen. The novel won't get published until next spring, but it was sent out to prospective buyers last Friday. There's even a sequel, appropriate titled More Blood on the Snow that will be published next year. So this could even be a series.
The Norwegian novel follows a hit man who is tasked with killing his boss' wife, but he ends up falling in love with her instead of assassinating her. DiCaprio picks up a lot of projects as producer, and eyes them as potential starring vehicles, but most of them are still in development, like the biographical Wilson. This isn't Warner Bros. first arrangement with Nesbo, since the studio also has the rights to The Son for a feature film adaptation. This project is still in its infancy and Warner Bros. hopes to find a writer before getting a director involved. Stay tuned for any updates.
I dig the Harry Hole series. I hope this team can make that happen.
