Listen: Clint Mansell's New 'Stoker' Score Available to Buy & Stream
Do I need to say anything more than: new Clint Mansell score now available? I hope not. A few weeks ago, we featured the streaming release of Shane Carruth's atmospheric score for his new film Upstream Color. Similarly, the score for Park Chan-wook's Stoker, composed by Clint Mansell (of Pi, The Fountain, Black Swan), is now available for streaming or purchase. The film will finally begin playing in limited theaters this week, which is why the album is perfectly timed for release now. It's one of those beautiful scores that just builds as it goes on getting deeper, more exciting. Worth listening to even if you're not interested in the film.
Stoker stars Mia Wasikowska as India Stoker, along with Nicole Kidman as her mother, and Matthew Goode her uncle. The soundtrack can be streamed in full below through SoundCloud. If you want the entire album, you can get it on iTunes for $10.99. The film will be playing in limited theaters throughout March. Listen:
I had the chance to see Stoker at Sundance and I honestly enjoyed it, it's very odd. My first reaction after seeing it was simply this: "like floating through a twisted, vividly eerie Chan-wook Park dream, in English! Visually stunning but otherwise odd…" It's a mesmerizing film that is elevated ever so slightly by Mansell's beautiful score, which adds extra layers of subtlety throughout. If the score and all the visuals for Park's Stoker have intrigued you, it's worth seeing. There's something alluring about every little detail in this film.
After India's (Mia Wasikowska) father dies in an auto accident, her Uncle Charlie (Matthew Goode), who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her emotionally unstable mother Evelyn (Nicole Kidman). Soon after his arrival, she comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives, but instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless girl becomes increasingly infatuated with him. Park Chan-wook (Oldboy, Vengeance Trilogy) directs Stoker from a screenplay by actor Wentworth Miller going as Ted Foulke. Fox Searchlight is releasing Stoker in theaters March 1st, 2013 this spring. See the trailer.
Clint Mansell is amazing... Not my favorite by him, but a fantastic listen all the same!

The beginning of this album starts like a M83 song.
