Louis C.K. Lands a Key Role in David O. Russell's New Abscam Drama
After just landing one of the Best Director nominations for the 85th Annual Academy Awards, a new cast member has just joined Silver Linings Playbook director David O. Russell's next project. Formerly titled American Bullshit, the currently untitled drama follows Christian Bale as a con man who masterminded an FBI sting operation of Congress in 1980. Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner and Amy Adams also star in the film featuring an original script from The International screenwriter Eric Warren Singer. Now THR has word that comedian Louis C.K. has landed a key role in the film as well. That's an interesting addition.
Specifics on the comedian's role have not been revealed, but considering the nature of this film, he's likely not just comic relief. The true story deals with the operation known as Abscam, and comes from Zero Dark Thirty producer Megan Ellison's Annapurna Pictures. After Russell went sweet with Silver Linings Playbook, it'll be nice to have him dig into something grittier like this. As for Louis C.K., he'll be spotted in Woody Allen's next film which is now titled Blue Jasmine and hits theaters sometime this year. This is likely just the beginning of a lucrative film career for the comedian, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was some Oscar accolades in his future, maybe with this film in particular. Stay tuned.
