Matthew McConaughey Confirms He's Starring in Nolan's 'Interstellar'
by Alex Billington
April 3, 2013
Briefly: It has been confirmed by the man himself that he's taking the role in Chris Nolan's next movie, Interstellar, a sci-fi interstellar voyage script written by Jonathan Nolan, based on physicist Kip Thorne's theories of gravity fields and wormholes. Matthew McConaughey told Star Tribune (via SlashFilm) in a phone interview that he will be taking the role. When asked about the offer, McConaughey simply told them: "I'm confirming." This is very exciting to hear following news of the offer, as I believe Nolan's Interstellar will be the pinnacle of the new sci-fi era, and McConaughey's casting harkens back to the brilliance that resulted in 1997's Contact. We'll be watching development closely building to its November 2014 release.

I really don't think this is a good idea. I really cant think of one good movie Matthew McConaughey has done.

Can't agree. He stringed some great performances just lately in movies no way mediocre at worse. Bernie, Killer Joe, The Paperboy, Mud, Magic Mike, and there is his pre rom-com era of course. Lone Star, A Time to Kill. Contact.

Great! I'd say he's a very good actor. Needless to say, Interstellar is my most anticipated movie for the next 3 years. Now all we need is Gina Gershon to co-star :))

Wouldn't say "pinnacle of the new sci era" if anyone's going to create that, it's gonna be Blomkamp

But none the less I'm pumped for this.

The guy has one movie under his belt, granted it was amazing especially for a freshman effort but A LOT of directors and writers have had a one hit and done. Elysium looks promising but I would trust Nolan more with making the pinnacle of a new sci fi era than I would a guy whose made 1 friggin movie.

I might get flamed for saying this but I think Nolan maybe the next Kubrick

Nolan is really just the next Nolan. He's not obsessed enough to be Kubrick (if that honor is to be bestowed on anyone it would probably be someone like Fincher)

What actor or actress can say no to Nolan after being offered a role like that. If Nolan takes the care to handpick you for a leading role with no casting, you better know you have it as an actor
In Nolan we trust! on Apr 3, 2013

Contact = one of the coolest beginnings of a movie
