While rumors are swirling that Michael B. Jordan has taken meetings with J.J. Abrams for a role in Star Wars: Episode VII, it sounds like the Fruitvale Station and Chronicle star might also be up for another big blockbuster sequel. The Wrap has word that Jordan is currently a hot commodity for 20th Century Fox, and the actor is being eyed for a major role in Independence Day 2 from director Roland Emmerich. Supposedly there's no offer in play yet, and there's no deal expected to happen anytime soon, but Fox is hoping to make some official casting announcements closer to the holiday season later this year. Read on!
Rumors previously swirled that Fox was also interested in Jordan for the role of The Human Torch in their reboot of Fantastic Four. Following his breakthrough performance in Fruitvale Station, Jordan can pretty much have any role he wants at this point, it's just a matter of what role he actually chooses. There's a good chance Jordan could end up with roles in Star Wars: Episode VII and Independence Day 2 since Emmerich recently indicated his sequel might be more likely to hit theaters in 2016, making it 20 years after the first film. Jordan is likely being lined up for the role of Will Smith's step-son, who has been rumored to be one of the heroes. And if Emmerich has his way, maybe Smith will be there to pass the torch on as well.
