Michael Fassbender Becoming a Gangster in 'Trespass Against Us'
Earlier this week, we saw Michael Fassbender getting into villain mode for X-Men: Days of Future Past, but right now you can catch him in the breathtaking drama 12 Years a Slave. However, don't expect him to make a big push for awards because he's going to be busy shooting Justin Kurzel's adaptation of Macbeth with Marion Cotillard (a scheduling move he made on purpose). Now Variety reports he's also lined up another role for his future slate in Trespass Against Us, a project from UK TV director Adam Smith ("Doctor Who") that Protagonist Pictures is pre-selling at the American Film Market. So what's the story?
The film will see Fassbender entering the world of a criminal gangster as Chad Cutler, who is part of a family of outlaws that spans three generations. However, it sounds like this will be set much further in the past since the family is described as "hunting hares, ram-raiding stately homes and taunting the police." But of course, Cutler wants a way out of the criminal life, much to the chagrin of his father. As a bonus, The Chemical Brothers are going to score the film (Smith directed their concert documentary Don't Think) which has a script from documentary director Alastair Siddons. Production begins in 2014 in the UK.
