Fast & Furious 6

Not too long ago, a big spoilery rumor hit the web regarding Fast & Furious 7, including details about something happening towards the end of the film or in a credits scene following Fast & Furious 6. If you've been following the franchise with a lot of vigor, then you probably have already heard the news of a big name joining the franchise in the next sequel, aiming for release next summer with James Wan (Insidious, Saw) in the director's seat. However, since it's a pretty damn cool surprise, we decided to hold off on the story. But now actress Michelle Rodriguez has confirmed the involvement of this new talent.

Following a rumor that first surfaced in October of 2011, The Transporter himself, Jason Statham, will be in the seventh film in the franchise. Speaking with Desde Hollywood (via The Playlist), Rodriguez said, "Jason Statham, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, when you see these guys in a room you know they belong together. You can see in their eyes that they have gone through a lot. I applaud Universal for getting him on-board!” So there you go. When that rumor first surfaced, the report said Statham could star in one or both of these upcoming sequels, and that they might shoot back-to-back. And that's pretty much come to fruition now. If you want spoilerly details on Statham's appearance, Google is your friend. Cool?

yuck, I thought all roads led to 6. I guess they all actually lead to 7 or 8 or even 9.

There's New Trilogy in Fast & Furious Series Coming, Get Tight your Belts.....

I've been going through the first five with my girlfriend, who's never seen them before, and it's starting to hit me just how ridiculous their keeping Han alive is getting, given that next year's film will be the fourth movie taking place before Tokyo Drift. Eventually, anyone ever killed in a F&F movie will end up getting resurrected for the sake of a new story.

the_situasian on May 7, 2013

Pretty sure the 7th is definitively going to take place after the 6th.

Chris Groves on May 7, 2013

Right...but chronologically it'll still be before Drift. They killed off Han in Drift, then realized he was a popular character, and keep on using him in movies with the excuse that he hasn't gone to Tokyo yet. So chronologically, it goes The Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Fast and Furious, Fast Five, Fast and Furious 6, Fast and Furious 7...probably any other sequel...and finally Tokyo Drift.

the_situasian on May 7, 2013

I meant to say that I believe this one will also take place after Tokyo Drift...if the rumors are to be believed, Han's death will actually be a kick-starting plot point for the 7th film.

Chris Groves on May 7, 2013

One rumor was that t person who crashed into Han in Tokyo Drift...who then was just a faceless random car in the traffic, will actually be revealed to be an intentional hit by none other than Jason Statham in a mid or post-credits scene for THIS film...and thus the 7th would be the last film, chronologically.

Chris Groves on May 7, 2013

Holy shit. That would be maybe the biggest stretch the franchise has ever made...yet also kind of awesome.

the_situasian on May 8, 2013

That's what I's totally a "sequel-y" loophole, such as "Oh, that guy in the first movie didn't actually shoot your uncle, was REALLY Sandman!" turns an unfortunate accident that was in the midst of a hectic chase in traffic into some big plot point via 'hindsight plotting'. It removes a bit of the 'random-ness' of his death and spins it into something a bit more meaningful, though.

I thought I read something before with the director or someone saying Tokyo Drift is the last film in the series & everything else happens before it.

Hallelujah! This is huge people.

DAVIDPD on May 7, 2013

I'm kind of hoping that the 7th film is in fact the grand finale. I love that this series has evolved into a huge scale action series...becoming something different...but I think 7 would be a nice place to end it.

Please kick the next person in the nuts who decides to make another F&F

Quality not quantity, please.

Come on! not Bruce Willis again.

Hugo Armando on May 8, 2013

Willis has given up trying as an actor. And that's hard to say being such a fan of his work in Die Hard.
