Miles Teller on 'Fantastic Four' Rumor: 'Divergent' Sequel May Interfere

Following the initial report that The Spectacular Now and 21 and Over star Miles Teller was being lined up to play Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, in 20th Century Fox's Fantastic Four reboot, director Josh Trank denied the rumors. However, Teller's name emerged again when a shortlist of actresses being eyed for the role of Sue Storm surfaced. Now his consideration for the role has been confirmed by Teller himself who talked about the prospect with Fandango saying, "If that happens, if everything works out, then I will be pretty pumped." However, the Divergent sequel, Insurgent, might prevent him from making it work.
When asked about future projects, Teller said:
"Right now I'm kind of hanging out. I don't have anything that I'm doing until probably January or February. I don't know 100%. Obviously Insurgent, the next Divergent film… I think they are going to start the second one in April. [But with Fantastic Four] Uh, you know, I don't know. If that happens, if everything works out, then I will be pretty pumped. But then I'll also be working for… it's like seven months out of your year. Which is not a bad problem."
So it sounds like Teller is hoping to make the film fit into his schedule, but since Fox has a release date of March 6th, 2015 already set, that means they would likely start filming around the same time that Insurgent would go in front of cameras. Of course, if Divergent doesn't perform when it hits theaters on March 21st, 2014, then maybe he won't have to worry about it. Either way, Teller is certainly on the rise after a stellar performance in The Spectacular Now, and we would love to see him join the superhero ranks. We're betting some casting announcements are just around the corner, so we'll keep you updated.
