After wowing audiences in the Sundance selected film The Spectacular Now a couple months ago (the film will hit theaters in August), charming couple Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller reunite for the sci-fi young adult Divergent. Woodley is already slated to lead the story set in a dystopian future Chicago with the city separated into five factions where Beatrice (Woodley) discovers she's a divergent, a person who doesn't fit into any of the established groups and is considered dangerous. Now Deadline reports Teller has taken a role and Theo James, Aaron Eckhart and Ray Stevenson are also boarding the film. Read on!
Beatrice begins to call herself Tris as she aims to find out why the divergents are considered a threat and uncovers a conspiracy to destroy them all. It turns out Jai Courtney (who was added to the cast yesterday) isn't taking the male lead, but he still has an unknown part in the story. Instead, Deadline reports the male lead of Four, who instructs Tris as one of the leaders of the Dauntless faction (known for bravery), has gone to Theo James. The actor is relatively new to the scene with bit parts in films like Underworld: Awakening and You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, but this role, which is as pivotal as the character Peeta in The Hunger Games, could be a star-making turn if the film is a hit. But he's not the only new cast member.
Along with confirming final negotiations for Kate Winslet, there's word that Aaron Eckhart and Ray Stevenson are getting ready to finalize deals. Though there's no word on who those stars will play, we do know that Maggie Q will play Tori, the inked owner of a tattoo parlor who is part of the ceremony that divides people into factions, but ends up helping Beatrice. In addition, Zoe Kravitz is playing Christina, another member of the Dauntless faction and one of Tris' friends while Ansel Elgort is playing Tris' brother Caleb, who turns his back on the family, switching from the Abnegation clan to the Erudite clan. The adaptation of of Veronica Roth's book of the same name will head to theaters on March 21st, 2014.

Divergent and insurgent by Veronica Roth are both really good reads.
