Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

We're not even halfway through the summer, but the later releases of the blockbuster season are pushing hard for audiences to get interested. One such film that seems like it has a bit of an uphill battle for audiences outside of the young adult realm is Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. The film gives Lily Collins (The Blind Side, Priest) the lead role as a seemingly human woman (or Mundane) who learns that she is part of a sect of half-angel warriors, making her able to see between the our world and theirs. There's a lot going on in this international trailer, but this one seems like a bit of a dud. Maybe we'll be surprised?

Here's the international trailer for Harald Zwart's Mortal Instruments: City of Bones from MSN UK:

Harald Zwart (The Karate Kid, Agent Cody Banks) directs Mortal Instruments: City of Bones written by I. Marlene King and Jessica Postigo and based on Cassandra Clare's book of the same name. Lily Collins (The Blind Side, Priest) plays Clary Fray, a young woman who discovers she is the descendant of a secret cadre of half-angel warriors called "Shadowhunters" locked in an ancient battle to protect the world from demons. Robert Sheehan, Kevin Zegers, Aidan Turner, Jemima West, Godfrey Gao and Kevin Zegers also star. Sony's Screen Gems arm will release Mortal Instruments in theaters starting August 23rd this summer. Good?

It did have a HD trailer, I thought the same, but clicked the quality changer in full screen. I thought having to watch an ad before a film ad was worse!

This looks extremely lame.

Its pretty sad when people give crap to a story that they know nothing about. Perhaps the "objective" point of view was overlooked for this article since, at least plot wise, this movie looks rather original compared to other YA Adaptions that have been released within the past few years.

The book is fantastic, I can tell you right now the movie isn't gonna be as good.

I think that it has potential to be a great movie. But It looks like it has way to much going on to be packed into one movie. It's probably going to not be any good, I mean Supernatural has this same concept and it spanned what 9 seasons. So yeah this looks like its just going to be a cluster fuck of shit that happened in supernatural.

I read the book recently and it was pretty awful. The film looks even worse.
