Thor: The Dark World

"What will you sacrifice for what you believe?" Disney & Marvel Studios have unveiled the first full-length teaser trailer for Thor: The Dark World, directed by Alan Taylor ("Game of Thrones"), bringing back Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder and Natalie Portman as his lover Jane Foster. They've made things even bigger and more epic, which is the direction Marvel's Phase Two is headed, first with Iron Man 3 then with The Dark World. Besides all the Dark Elves that Thor has to fight, there's another returning face that will make everyone grin - Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, is back. This looks exciting, bring it Thor!

Here's the first full teaser trailer for Marvel Studio's Thor: The Dark World, in high def via Apple:

In the aftermath of Marvel’s Thor and The Avengers, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) fights to restore order across the cosmos, but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all. Alan Taylor ("Game of Thrones") directs Thor: The Dark World which arrives in theaters on November 8th in 3D. Excited yet?

This looks infinitely better than the first one, and not just because it seems like Natalie Portman's character dies. I also like the look on Sif's face. This is gonna be sweet!

SuicidalOptimist on Apr 23, 2013

Lady Sif is like, "that trick over me????"

mooreworthy on Apr 23, 2013

Kinda feel like that makes Sif as a character very...annoying. I loved her in the first, love triangles are god awful story lines.

Double trueness agreed times yup.

PBGray on Apr 23, 2013

Looks nifty, but the whole using the girlfriend as hostage/bait to get to the hero has been done many, many times. I will not further judge it until it's released.

Nifty Films on Apr 23, 2013

Didn't give me that epic feeling of wanting to see it that a lot of trailers recently has, but I'll definitely check it out. Seems to have less Kat Dennings as well, so that's awesome.

story looks mediocre...not must watch at all...

dawko on Apr 23, 2013

I hope they show off his power this time a bit better. Thor really muted his strength..i mean he's supposed to be almost as strong as the Hulk, and we got to see a little of this in Avengers but I hope they let loose with his powers.

Corey Feldman on Apr 23, 2013

I think he is as strong as baseline hulk, but if hulk..hulks out more he quickly is stronger than thor.

Brian Sleider on Apr 23, 2013

When Stan Lee "created/incorporated" Thor into his comics, the concept was to make a hero who was stronger than the Hulk so in essence he is stronger, but not fully as Hulk can hulk out more and give Thor an even bigger challenge, but in my opinion I think it's raging power that matches/beats controlled power.

Fidel Reyes on Apr 23, 2013

As I agree they should show more of Thor's physical strength, I feel they NEED to show more badass-ry of him wielding his hammer. Show more tornados forming, crazy intense lightening striking down on enemies, just horrific, stupid insane storms forming and crackling. Plus more slamming the hammer on the ground and creating earthquakes.

JBrotsis on Apr 23, 2013

What's with every blockbuster trailer having that big bass drop in it nowadays? And I'm not exaggerating, literally EVERY blockbuster trailer has it....starting to get more annoying than its predecessor which was made famous in Inception with the big BWWAAAAAAAAAAMMMMM.

Cmurder on Apr 23, 2013

lol - as an audio guy, I'm glad (& sorry) somebody else notices that. It's the new Wilhelm scream!! BEEEEWWWWwwwwwww!!!!

avconsumer2 on Apr 23, 2013

U just started noticing.... it also usually follows a cut to black too

Sky on Apr 23, 2013

Inception. People just copy lol.

dvt on Apr 23, 2013

Didn't District 9 pull this before Inception

Guest on Apr 23, 2013

It's like dubstep in a lot of videogames. Mainly EA and Ubisoft......

Chris Amaya on Apr 23, 2013

Transformers just used it so much I wanted to puke. Everything was a bass drop with that movie. "Bumblebee I need you!" "BWAWAWAWAWAAAAAAAMMMMM!!"

Craptastic on Apr 25, 2013

Me likey the visuals. But to be completely honest, the trailer could've been completely awful and I'd still be lining up day one to see this.

Phillip Gockel on Apr 23, 2013

I like the lil Marvel cape logo lol

Tyrell Antonio on Apr 23, 2013

Looks better than the first one, anyway. But I'm getting tired of seeing Loki in every Marvel film.

Jim on Apr 23, 2013

Yeah, but he has more depth than anyone else's my opinion.

mooreworthy on Apr 23, 2013

You mean the actor, or the character? I'm frankly disenfranchised with both.

Jim on Apr 23, 2013

I would say the nuance he brings to Loki.

mooreworthy on Apr 23, 2013

I kinda agree, much as I love Tom Hiddleston. On the other hand it makes a refreshing change to the "villain of the week" situation in most other superhero movies. I'm happy to see him in a few more secondary parts.

Blargh on Apr 24, 2013

He's the Lex Luthor of Marvel movies.

$126191 on Apr 24, 2013

It's directed by Alan Taylor, what could possibly go wrong?

Christopher Dean on Apr 23, 2013

Dig it.

grimjob on Apr 23, 2013

BWWWOOOOOMMMM Otherwise a good trailer looks better than the first. Would like to see Thor don the his helmet a bit more this time around. IMO its a very iconic piece of his costume.

Brian Sleider on Apr 23, 2013

dat hair Loki..

Ege Sönmez on Apr 23, 2013

Definitely has a GoT feel it it, which is a great thing.Thor was/is still a very watchable movie...The Dark World looks to be stronger than its predecssor. Love seeing Loki again, Hiddleson deserves to be in a lot more than just Thor, Avengers, and Dark World...he is just epic to watch.

Xerxexx on Apr 23, 2013

Nice flick to look forward to in the fall.

mooreworthy on Apr 23, 2013

This trailer I like it, another!

AGAIN showing darkness falling in London. People in out!! "THEY" got something BIG in store for you...

Anon on Apr 23, 2013

Taking Boston as an example....just a little starter, the main course is coming!

Anon2 on Apr 23, 2013

G.I. Joe wiped out London, Star Trek has that bombing in London (I think?), and now this? Yeah. Something is up.....

Chris Amaya on Apr 23, 2013

New York has been at the forefront of destroyed cities for a long time now. Its London's turn.

Xerxexx on Apr 24, 2013

If that Facebook page is anything to go by, Los Angeles is going to get nuked on the 28th. It was nice knowing you all 🙁

Chris Amaya on Apr 24, 2013

Holy Shit, that just happened. Love it,

Blkstar on Apr 23, 2013

This might be a dumb/overly logical question - but how are they (and Iron Man, and Captain America, etc) going to explain the rest of the Avengers NOT coming to help out in each of their movies? I assume that they'll be some odd cameos here and there, but is Iron Man busy when the London is being destroyed?

Cameron on Apr 23, 2013

I've thought about that, too. If the movies are connected to each other it makes no sense that one hero must save the world on his own. Guess we have to overlook that

vampyrfan on Apr 24, 2013

This sequel, I like it! ANOTHER!!

LosZombies on Apr 23, 2013

looks great!

Nick Sears on Apr 23, 2013

Didn't Odin (Ahops) die in the first Thor? I don't remember, unless its a possible flashback. Also, seems like London is the backdrop for most of the recent blockbusters. Skyfall Fast and Furious 6 ST - Into Darkness Now Thor - The Dark World everything is dark!!! lol Wooo woooot!

Byakko on Apr 23, 2013

He lived.

Xerxexx on Apr 23, 2013

Odin is alive... he once fought Galactus one-on-one and made him his biatch... or so I'm told.

lewinston on Apr 23, 2013

Please... Put the helmet on him during some of the fighting at least!

K1ng on Apr 23, 2013

(Fart Noise)

Jesse Bangerter on Apr 23, 2013

this appears to look better....which isnt that difficult

ken harris on Apr 23, 2013

How are they going to win? They don't have a hulk this time? Or do they 😉

Antonio on Apr 23, 2013

To me what summed up Thor the most but was lost almost immediately afterwards was him striding into the pet store and demanding "A need a horse!". I wish they'd developed this laughable arrogance for a little longer.

Payne by name on Apr 23, 2013

I like that all these upcoming marvel movies are darker, I hope this means the humor goes from juvenile to a bit more sophisticated ..I love most comic book movies no matter how badly done- I usually just appreciate SOMETHING at least but with these movies being done on such large scales I have to say I'm getting pickier. And while I have never been much into Thor his character has touched on the characters I do follow enough for me to demand the helmet. Won't ever stop me from seeing the movies though

Barbara Ruiz on Apr 23, 2013

Im a straight guy, but man oh man does Tom Hiddleston make me rethink my man card. *teeheehee*

I am no man on Apr 23, 2013

Reminds me the story of Green Lantern lol

dawko on Apr 23, 2013

Loki looks homeless.... Awesome

Antonio on Apr 23, 2013

Damn that looks pretty frelling good!

Jimmy Love on Apr 23, 2013

Not quite epic enough.

Nielsen700 on Apr 23, 2013

hope the Wrecking Crew are next Thor movie villains!

comic393 on Apr 23, 2013

Looks dumber than a bag of hammers.

$126191 on Apr 24, 2013

It's not just the director that makes a movie work or not. A good movie, as the old Hollywood saying goes, needs three things: a good script, a good script and a good script.

$126191 on Apr 25, 2013

Will it be in IMAX 3D?
