"If we destroy an entire generation of people's culture, it's as if they never existed." Finally! The very first trailer for George Clooney's The Monuments Men has arrived on the web, a short teaser to introduce us to the crew of eight WWII heroes sent to rescue artwork stolen by the Nazis. Clooney stars along with John Goodman, Matt Damon, Bob Balaban, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett & Jean Dujardin. Everything about this looks amazing, from the cast to the production design to the story to all the WWII settings we get to explore once again. This is one of our most anticipated movies left this year for good reason. Take a look!
Watch the very first trailer for George Clooney's The Monuments Men, originally via The Film Stage:
The Monuments Men is directed by George Clooney (Good Night and Good Luck, The Ides of March) who co-wrote the script with his producing partner Grant Heslov. An adaptation Robert M. Edsel's book of the same name, the film follows the true story of a hand-picked group of art experts chosen by the U.S. government to retrieve artwork stolen by the Nazis. Clooney also stars in the film along with an impressive cast including Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban and Hugh Bonneville. Columbia Pictures releases the film on December 18th late this winter. Looking good?

This trailer was good and at least to me this is a fresh concept for a movie. This December is starting to look like one of the strongest months for movies I've ever seen.

i like the cast very much. but i don't like the comedic bent. also, while the art angle of the story may end up being very good - i'm not convinced from this trailer. sorry, i thought forums were for adding an opinion - not just going along with the what the site owner thinks. i won't bother to offer an opinion on here any more.

I love WWII films, and this one fits my criteria of a triple threat: great director, great cast, great concept. Can't wait to see it.

Looks good. Liked everything about the trailer except the sound track. I think they could have found something better to fit the period and the situation.

Like what? I, too, thought of the same thing, but then couldn't think of a good track to go with this trailer.

The song choice is odd and out of place for the subject matter, and it obviously looks like another Ocean's sequel. Here's hoping the smarmy tone was just amped up for the trailer, was hoping for a bit more serious film.
