Must Watch: Ricky Gervais in 'Muppets Most Wanted' Teaser Trailer

The Muppets are back again, and now there's a teaser trailer to prove it. However, as excited as we are for the return of Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and all our favorite Muppets, this first teaser for Muppets Most Wanted feels dated. It's almost as if this particular trailer was crafted to play on a video tape in the 90s. Maybe it's the cheesy voiceover and weird editing that makes it feel like an old TV spot, but it's strange. Still, there's fun to be had with Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey, Ty Burrell and surprise appearances by Sean "Diddy" Combs and Salma Hayek. Who knows what other cameos are on the way, but there will be tons.
Here's the teaser trailer for James Bobin's Muppets Most Wanted, direct from Walt Disney Pictures:
Muppets Most Wanted is directed by James Bobin (The Muppets) who co-wrote the script with Nicholas Stoller. This time the entire Muppets gang is on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine—the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit—and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two (Ricky Gervais). The film also features Ty Burrell, Tina Fey, Ray Liotta and many more with Walt Disney Pictures releasing the film everywhere on March 21st, 2014 next year. Funny?
I'm a sucker for the muppets, but I don't think I would label that a "Must Watch" 🙂

I think its only a must watch because its the trailer for the Muppets Movie, not because its a great trailer. I will see this in theaters and Im way too old to see this, but that what i love about these movies. The Muppets make me feel young again and no other series can do that to me

Yeah, it's only "must watch" for the page views.

Damn, this is sloppy. It feels like a straight-to-DVD trailer. This is leagues away from the trailers we got back in 2011. I hope the full trailer(s) will be more akin to those.

This trailer will be playing in front of Disney's Planes, so we're hoping that's why the trailer is so childish.

If that's their version of cultural relevance, that is one movie that's staler than an old pack of crisps.

This looks like a hyper child's imagination spewed all over a thoughtful and often quiet franchise. I don't like the insane over the top muppets. I prefer the quiet reflective stuff. It's why I don't like Muppet Treasure Island or their Christmas Carol.

Eh? Muppet Christmas Carol is over-the-top and insane? I would put it in the "quiet + reflective" category myself. If you can even use that as a category for Muppet movies... but yeah, I think MCC is easily one of the most heartfelt entries.

I'd rather watch my old Muppet Show DVDs.

Loved the 2011 muppets! And I think I will love this because I liked the 2011 so much!

Looks as terrible as that selection of cameos. Who in the world...?
